Why Socrates Does Not Fear Death - Plato's Apology

Here is the sixth podcast episode taken from the core concept series on Plato's Apology.

Socrates is facing death as one of the possible penalties in his trial - and the jury does in fact vote to impose the death penalty.  Why is he unaffected by what seems to many to be a terrible evil?

The Gadfly Analogy - Plato's Apology

Here is the fifth podcast episode taken from the core concept series on Plato's Apology.

You may have heard references to being a "social gadfly". That phrase comes from Socrates himself, and he explains that being like a gadfly is precisely how he fulfills his important social function for his city of Athens

Socrates' Defense Against Charges of Impiety - Plato's Apology

Here is the fourth podcast episode taken from the core concept series on Plato's Apology.

One set of charges made against Socrates was "impiety".  It is clear that Socrates did have some rather unconventional religious beliefs, by comparison to his fellow citizens.  But he defends himself by using several arguments.

Playlist Created - Sadler Guest Appearances and Interviews

As I started building out my Soundcloud channel, where the sound files of my video lectures will all be hosted as podcast episodes, I realized that quite a few of the shows I've appeared on over the last several years are also on Soundcloud.

I've done a lot of guest appearances and interviews on a variety of podcasts, radio shows, television shows, and video channels.  Understandably, not all of them are hosted on Soundcloud, so if you'd like to see a much fuller list you can click here.

If you'd like to tap into those 15 episodes from 10 different shows and podcasts I've tracked down so far, here they are:

Socrates' Defense Against Charges of Corruption - Plato's Apology

Here is the third podcast episode taken from the core concept series on Plato's Apology.

One of the actual charges made against Socrates was "corrupting the young of Athens". He defends himself against that accusation by cross-examining the young man bringing the charge, Meletus.  In the course of that, Socrates makes several arguments, which we examine in this lecture

Socrates' Older Accusers - Plato's Apology

Here is the second podcast episode taken from the core concept series on Plato's Apology.

Early on in his defense, Socrates explains that not only does he face several young, and generally inept accusers at his trial.  He also has to address older, much more powerful accusers who have prejudiced the minds of the jury-members against him.

Socrates' Divine Mission - Plato's Apology

The very first podcast episode on my Soundcloud site is now live!  I've started converting videos from the core concept series on Plato's Apology.

It took quite a bit of work at first - there's a significant learning curve to Audacity, and the sound quality on those earlier videos required a lot of editing work to improve it to the level you'll hear in the podcast (better, but far from perfect).

Still, I'm quite happy to finally be able to air this for the general public.  Episode #1!
